This drawing salve is incredible for pulling out infection... and splinters. Inky hued thanks to detox powerhouses, activated charcoal combined with bentonite clay. Calendula, chamomile, comfrey, and prunella were infused into olive, castor, coconut, and sunflower oils to speed healing. Shea butter moisturizes and adds creaminess to the formula. Lavender, manuka, and litsea cubeba essential oils fight infection. Dab a bit on burns, abrasions, splinters, bee stings, or bug bites. This herb infused balm is to be applied to the affected area then covered with a bandaid or gauze. (For three consecutive days.) The black coloration does not stain the skin but could stain fabrics.
Calendula: Aids the healing of wounds and internal and external ulcers.
Chamomile: Chamomile posses many powerful skin properties such as being anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antibacterial, antiseptic, and contains essential oils and antioxidants. Additionally, is a hypoallergenic and helps to reduce skin irritants by neutralizing free radicals.
Prunella: Scientific analysis on self heal aka prunella has revealed that it has an antibacterial action which inhibits the growth of pseudomas, E. Coli and Bacillus typhi.
Comfrey Leaf: Being mucilaginous, comfrey is commonly used for helping heal wounds, preventing scars and treating existing ones, along with decreasing dryness and flaking of skin. The oil appears to work as an anti-inflammatory, an analgesic and an aid in the healing.
Sunflower Oil: Sunflower oil is loaded with essential fatty acids, including omega-6, which have been shown to be effective in eliminating skin infections like dermatitis and sunburns. In addition, this oil comes with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Castor Oil: The highly concentrated fatty acids contained in castor oil penetrate the skin easily. This helps remove dry patches and restores hydration of the skin.
Olive Oil: Olive oil contains three major antioxidants: vitamin E, polyphenols, and phytosterols. Antioxidants, when topically applied, may help protect the skin from premature skin aging.
Shea Butter: Moisturizes the skin, is anti inflammatory, soothes abrasions, and restores elasticity.
Beeswax: Provides protection against irritants while still allowing the skin to breathe. Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral benefits making it helpful in treating skin irritation.
Lavender Essential Oil: Antiseptic, anti fungal, helps speed healing.
Manuka Essential Oil: An anti bacterial, anti fungal, insect sting ally. This oil has varied effects on the skin. It can be used to cure itches, rashes, skin diseases, sores, chafing, and other problems related to the skin.
Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil: One of the main components of Litsea Cubeba essential oil is citral – which makes up roughly over 70% of the phytonutrient content of the oil. This, along with other natural alcohols and aldehydes give Litsea oil it’s strong antibacterial and antiseptic qualities that make it suitable for treating external and internal infections.
This 4 ounce plastic tub is great for keeping on hand for the mishaps summer inevitably brings. Any "bits" you may see in this balm are tiny remnants of chamomile. Even after double straining the infused oil base some plant matter got through!
